There are plenty of activities to take part in throughout the
area: Eight times the size of Sydney Harbour, Jervis Bay is a favourite
stop off for Humpback and Southern Right Whales right through the
winter months. Jervis Bay a marine park, has some of the best diving
in Australia and is renown for its excellent visibility and has
an active seal and fairy penguin colonies on Bowen Island. Dolphin
watch cruises operate throughout the year from the village of Huskisson.
The icon of the area is Hyams Beach, according to the Guinness Book of Records is the whitest sand in the world and great to spend a day on.
Boderee National Park boasts gentle terrain and well-signed trails
that provide easy walking trail conditions, from a few hundred
metres to several kilometers through a variety of scenery and wildlife
habitat. The botanical Gardens established in the national park
in 1952 are another must see.
Swim at Green Patch or snorkel at Murray’s Beach, sheltered by Bowen Island to create a large natural aquarium.
Across the road from Palm Beach Caravan Park is St Georges Basin
known for one of the best windsurfing areas in the state of New
South Wales. You can also partake in some fishing, sailing, waterskiing
and bushwalking or just take in the great sunsets at Paradise Beach.
St Georges Basin Country Club is situated a short distance away
which has regular entertainment and is ideal venue for Bowls, Tennis,
Golf or just relaxing in the recently renovated surrounds of the
club.
